He said the Namibian Government was willing to work hand in hand with the ministry to ensure the progress of the girl-child.

“There are a lot of development projects which we can do together to ensure the welfare of the girl-child and the Government of Namibia is willing to offer any assistance,” he said.

Mr Josob stated that his government was committed to eradicating poverty in the country, hence the establishment of a Poverty Ministry and added that poverty could not be eradicated without first addressing the challenges of the vulnerable in society, mainly women and children.

He said that gave Ghana and Namibia a common interest and platform to fully address their challenges and hindrances to the development of the girl-child.

Gratitude

In her response, Nana Lithur expressed gratitude to the Namibian envoy for the gesture and said the ministry was glad and would co-operate with his country.

She stated also that Namibia had gone far with its gender policy and was advanced in both policy making and implementation with regard to promoting the welfare of the girl-child, so it would be beneficial for Ghana to collaborate with it and learn from that country’s experience.

Nana Lithur stated that Ghana looked forward to more of such initiatives which would not only benefit the countries involved but go a long way to improve the affairs of Africa as a whole.
