Nation pays tribute to fallen Ministers at Presidential Ceremonial Garden
Ghanaians from all walks of life will gather this afternoon at the Ceremonial Garden in front of the Presidency to honour the memory of the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others who perished in yesterday’s tragic helicopter crash.
The solemn event, scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, will feature a laying of flowers and lighting of candles in remembrance of the departed ministers and six others who lost their lives in the accident.
President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will lead the nation in paying respects to the deceased.
The ceremony is open to the public, with family members, friends, government officials, and citizens expected to join in the tribute.
The tragic helicopter crash, which occurred on the ministers' way to an anti-illegal mining event in Obuasi, has plunged the nation into grief.
President Mahama has declared three days of national mourning, with flags flying at half-mast across the country.
The public is encouraged to maintain decorum as the nation bids farewell to its fallen leaders.
The ceremony is part of a series of tributes leading to the state funeral arrangements.
