New district police headquarters for Adentan community
A two-storey building to serve as a district police headquarters for the Adentan Community has been commissioned.

The building, which is the initiative of the Adentan District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Stephen Kofi Ahiatafu, with support from private companies, was started on December 15, 2011.
It will serve as a new headquarters for the Adentan, Ayimensah, Fafraha, Oyibi, Nmai-Dzorn and the lake side police stations. The headquarters previously shared the same premises with the Adentan market.
Comportment of Police
At the inauguration of the building, the Director General in charge of the Technical Services of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr Frank Adu-Poku, advised police personnel who would be using the building to maintain it “to disabuse the misconception that police lack maintenance culture.”
Miscreant police personnel
He expressed worry over the increasing involvement of police personnel in criminal activities “which continue to dent the image of the service.”
The police administration, he said, resented acts of misconduct by police personnel, adding that stringent measures had been put in place to weed out the miscreants and criminals masquerading in police uniforms from the service.
“The police administration wishes to state unequivocally that any police officer who exhibits tendencies of non–compliance of our professional standards will be shown the exit,” he stated
Investment in Logistics
The Minister of Interior, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, said the government had invested in the supply of vehicles, communication equipment and other logistics for the Ghana Police Service.
“It is extremely important that we provide the best of facilities for all our officers in uniform as to enhance their professionalism,” he said.
Land Guards
The Accra Regional Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohunu , noted that the increasing rate of settlement communities in the Adenta district had brought about a lot of security challenges.
As a result, he said, police visibility and accessibility had been expanded throughout the district to “deal with land guards and armed robbers who come from other adjoining towns to harass developers and residents.”
