NGO fetes vulnerable in Jamestown
A Chance4Life, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that supports the needy, has feted orphans, head porters (Kayayei) and the aged at a ceremony in Accra.
The event, which was under the NGO’s community feeding project, attracted more than 500 children and head porters at Jamestown.

The group will be extending the same gesture to other deprived communities including Agbogbloshie, Nima and Chorkor for the next one week by providing them with cooked meals.
In all, 10,000 people are projected to benefit from the feeding project.
Reason for presentation
A Co-founder and Country Director of A Chance4Life, Dr Kofi Osei-Acheampong, said the NGO realised that those in deprived communities would still struggle to feed themselves, even after the lifting of the restrictions on movements.
“We, therefore, thought it wise to continue our community feeding project with support from the President and Founder of the NGO, Mr Malobe Sampson.
Safety protocols
Dr Osei-Acheampong said the group also used the occasion to teach members of the community how to stay safe from COVID-19 through proper handwashing.
The beneficiaries, he explained, were reminded to wash their hands often with soap under running water, bath at least twice daily, use hand sanitisers often, and cover their nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing.
He added that the members of the group also preached to the community on the need to know Jesus Christ in times like this.

“In the coming days, we will be visiting the other communities and make similar presentations to them to help alleviate the plight of the underprivileged in society,” he said.
Community projects
Dr Osei-Acheampong indicated that the organisation had been feeding and providing items to deprived communities across the country since its establishment, adding that “every year, we feed over 10,000 underprivileged and the vulnerable in Ghana.”
“We have built schools, provided people with clothes, shoes, supplied hospital consumables, and registered some aged with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS),” he said.
