Out of the number, 50 widows were given start-up capital ranging between GH¢300 and GH¢350.

At the ceremony, the Founder of the USP, Rev. Apostle Prince Isaac Aryee, said the organisation had been in existence for the past two years and had established four branches in the Volta, Western, Central and Ashanti regions, with a centre at Tettegu in the Greater Accra Region which was yet to start operation.

The organisation also presented bags of rice, cooking oil, mattresses and blankets to some widows at Weija and Tettegu in the Ga South District.

Appeal

Rev. Apostle Aryee called on religious bodies and traditional authorities to help needy persons in the country, stressing that “If the nation will improve, churches and chiefs are equally supposed to help the government by supporting those in need”.

According to Pastor Aryee, life is precious and so he appealed to philanthropists to support those in need.

An executive member of the organisation, Rev. Apostle Bless Ohene said he had decided to pay the school fees of orphans, and also support the youth to acquire vocational skills in hairdressing, auto mechanics, masonry, driving and carpentry.

He appealed to philanthropists, institutions and well wishers to support the organisation and a woman, Ms Josephine Domenyo, and her children, including a set of twins, who are dumb.

The support, he said, should be in the form of used clothes, food items, old furniture, books, money, as well as assistance for the building of an orphanage.
