NHIA denies ongoing recruitment allegations, says appointments ended in October

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has refuted allegations of ongoing recruitment activities, stating that all recruitment processes were completed in October 2024.

In a press release dated December 23, 2024, and signed by Chief Executive Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, the NHIA assured the public that its recruitment exercises were conducted transparently and in accordance with legal procedures.

The clarification follows rumors circulating online suggesting the NHIA was conducting last-minute recruitments to secure positions ahead of the incoming government led by President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

The NHIA has urged the public to disregard these claims, describing them as false and baseless.

The Mahama Transition Team in recent weeks raised concerns over what it describes as deliberate last-minute recruitments and promotions across various public institutions by the outgoing administration.

The spokesperson for the transition team Felix Kwakye Ofosu indicated that the incoming government would reverse any unauthorised appointments, promotions, or financial disbursements made after the December 7, 2024, elections.

“These actions undermine trust in public institutions and create unnecessary financial burdens for the incoming government,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.

He warned public officials against yielding to pressure from outgoing officials to facilitate such activities.

The NHIA noted that appointments to director-level positions fall under the jurisdiction of the Public Services Commission and are not decided by the Authority.

The agency pledged its continued commitment to upholding integrity in all its operations and urged the public to seek clarification through its official channels.
