NPP's Valentino Nii Noi Nortey arrested in US for allegedly stabbing wife

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has been arrested in the U.S. after allegedly stabbing his wife over the weekend, authorities have confirmed.

The stabbing over the weekend happened in Dauphin County in Pennsylvania and it has left the wife hospitalized and Nii Noi Nortey facing charges, according to police.

Valentino Nortey, 41, of Harrisburg, faces attempted homicide, possessing instrument of crime with intent to use and tamper with/fabricate physical evidence from the Saturday, Jan. 17, stabbing incident, Lower Paxton Township Police confirmed Monday.

According to police, the woman was stabbed during a domestic incident along Mayfair Drive in Lower Paxton Township around 10 a.m. After first responders arrived, the woman was taken to the hospital, where police said she is in stable condition.

Further details about the incident remain limited at this time, but police added there was never any threat to the public.

Online court records show Nortey is in Dauphin County Prison after he was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 26.
