Forson, Jinapor, Ayine: Parliament approves first set of Mahama's Ministers

President John Dramani Mahama’s first set of ministerial nominations have been approved by Parliament today, January 21, 2025.

This marks the first group of ministers to be confirmed after his inauguration on January 7, 2025, fulfilling a key constitutional requirement.

The nominations were submitted to the Speaker of Parliament in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution.

The approved ministers by Parliament are:

 1. Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson – Minister for Finance 
 2. Mr John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister for Energy 
 3. Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine – Attorney-General and Minister for Justice

The proceedings were overseen by Andrew Amoako Asiamah, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, in the absence of the Speaker, Alban Bagbin.

After hours of debate, both the Majority and Minority agreed that the three ministerial nominees have the competence and character to lead their respective ministries. The Second Deputy Speaker subsequently confirmed the appointments.
