Police announces 'increased' joint patrols with the military to maintain post-election peace
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security during the post-election period, highlighting its collaboration with the military as a key strategy.
In a statement released on Wednesday evening, the police expressed satisfaction with the country’s calm and peaceful state following the 2024 general elections.

This stability, according to the statement, is attributed to “the effective security measures implemented by the Police and other security agencies, under the auspices of the National Election Security Taskforce, with the support of the good people of Ghana.”
The statement emphasised the role of joint day-and-night patrols conducted by the police and military in ensuring visibility and rapid response to potential security threats.
It said this approach, along with ongoing intelligence-led operations and the deployment of security personnel at strategic state facilities, has been pivotal in safeguarding the nation.
In addition to the patrols, the police underscored their commitment to “continuous engagement with all stakeholders through active outreach efforts to identify and address their unique security concerns.”
As part of these measures, 115 suspects have been arrested for various offences since the elections, with nine apprehended in the last 24 hours.
Despite the calm, the police urged the public not to let their guard down, reiterating their commitment to taking necessary actions to uphold peace.

“We wish to urge the public to always reach out to us any time there is a security concern,” the statement concluded, thanking Ghanaians for their cooperation in sustaining the nation’s peace.
