Police arrest man over viral video threatening High Court judge
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with a viral video in which he allegedly threatened a Justice of the High Court, Her Ladyship Justice Patricia Quansah.
The suspect, John Kwabena Owusu Ansah, was arrested at Antoakrom in the Ashanti Region on March 27, 2026, following what the Police described as intelligence-led operations.
A statement issued by the Police on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, said the arrest was carried out by officers from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after a period of monitoring and investigations.
It said the video contained threats, abusive language and allegations accusing Justice Quansah of criminal conduct.
The Police said the content raised concerns about the safety of the judge and the image of the Judiciary.
The statement said the case is being handled under the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), together with the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008 (Act 772).
It said the laws provide for sanctions against unlawful online content, including fines, revocation of licences and criminal prosecution.
The Police said Mr Ansah is in custody, assisting with investigations and will be put before court.
