Police probe alleged murder-suicide attempt

The Accra Regional Police Command has begun investigations into the death of 26-year-old Mabel Asantewaa, who was allegedly stabbed by her fiancé at a place called Chinese, near the Tuba Tollbooth area, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

A police statement said preliminary findings indicated that the suspect, identified only as Samuel, allegedly attacked Mabel in her room and stabbed her in the neck.

After the incident, Samuel is reported to have attempted suicide by ingesting a poisonous substance. 

He was later discovered unconscious and rushed to the Kasoa Polyclinic, where medical officials have confirmed that he was stable but unconscious.

Officers who responded to the crime scene found the victim lying in a pool of blood. 

The Crime Scene Management Team has since taken over the case to conduct a detailed forensic investigation.

The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain calm while the probe continues, adding that updates will be provided in due course.
