Post-election tensions: Irate youth storm Ghana Gas Head Office (VIDEO)
A group of irate youth stormed the head office of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGCL) in the Airport Residential Area of Accra last Tuesday, attempting to forcibly gain entry.
In a video that has since gone viral, the youth were seen trying to breach the facility's main gate, prompting concerns over escalating tensions in the aftermath of Ghana's 2024 general election.

The incident unfolded despite earlier calls by the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, urging supporters to celebrate their electoral victory with moderation.
While no direct link has been established between the attack and the post-election unrest, the event adds to a charged atmosphere in the country. The elections saw Mr John Dramani Mahama declared President-elect, with his victory sparking both celebrations and isolated incidents of vandalism and unrest across the nation.
Addressing the nation a day earlier, Mr Mahama called for calm and restraint, urging citizens to avoid acts of criminality. In his first address as President-elect, he said, “There have been reports of acts of vandalism and some government facilities and installations. I urge you not to vent your frustration in criminal enterprise. We must channel our anger and frustration into the positive enterprise of resetting and rebuilding our nation. Let us be brief in our celebration...”
Authorities are yet to comment on the incident at the GNGCL, and it remains unclear if any arrests have been made.
