Presbyterian Church spreads Christmas cheer to children in Ga Presbytery

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community outreach by hosting the fifth edition of the ‘Jesus Christmas Street Party’ in the Teshie District of the Ga Presbytery.

The event, held at three stations — the Landing Beach Preaching Point, Bethany Park near Teshie First Junction, and the Grace Congregation at Sutsurunor — brought together more than 1,000 children for a day of celebration and fellowship.

The programme was led by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, Rt Rev Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, with support from the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev David Aboagye-Danquah, the Ga Presbytery Chairperson, Rev Col (Rtd) David Adoteye-Asare, and other senior ministers.

The children were treated to packed meals and drinks, as well as stationery including books, pencils, pens, rulers, erasers and sharpeners.

The Moderator explained that the gesture was intended not only to meet the children’s physical needs but also to support their education and inspire hope, particularly among those in deprived communities.

At each station, Rt Rev Dr Kwakye shared messages on the significance of Christmas, reminding the children of the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring love for them. “Christmas is a season of joy, but it is also a time to remind ourselves of God’s love revealed in the birth of Christ. We want our children to know that Jesus loves them deeply, and that they are precious in His sight,” he said.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the children sang, played and listened to messages of hope. The ‘Jesus Christmas Street Party’ reflects the PCG’s holistic mission to combine evangelism with social support, ensuring that vulnerable children are not left out during the festive season.
