President Akufo-Addo’s statue at Effia-Nkwanta repaired
The statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, has been repaired following noticeable damage.
Unveiled on November 6, 2024, to honour the President, the statue had a gaping hole at the back of one of its legs, which sparked widespread speculation about the cause of the damage. While some residents suspected deliberate vandalism, others attributed it to a possible structural defect.

Eyewitnesses reported that the repair work took place on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, around 4pm, carried out by two gentlemen and a lady. A police officer was also spotted providing security at the scene by 6pm.
The exact cause of the damage remains unclear, and speculation continues. While some believe it was a deliberate act of vandalism, others suggest it could have been due to flaws in the statue’s design or materials.
Despite its restoration, the statue remains a symbol of contention in the community, raising questions about its appropriateness and timing amidst other pressing developmental needs.
