President-elect John Mahama announces key appointments ahead of inauguration
President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has unveiled key appointments to his office on the eve of his official inauguration, as he prepares to assume the presidency on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
In a statement issued by his office, the President-elect named a diverse team of experienced professionals and political stalwarts to pivotal roles in the Office of the President. The appointments, which take immediate effect upon his swearing-in, are seen as part of Mr. Mahama’s strategy to hit the ground running in his new administration.
The appointments are as follows:
1. Julius Debrah will serve as Chief of Staff.
2. Dr. Callistus Mahama has been named Executive Secretary to the President.
3. Prosper Douglas Bani will lead the Interim Security Taskforce.
4. Dr. Valerie Sawyerr has been appointed Senior Presidential Advisor, Governmental Affairs.
5. Augustus Goosie Tannoh will act as Presidential Advisor Responsible for the 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development.
6. Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew will serve as Legal Counsel to the President of Ghana.
7. Felix Kwakye Ofosu has been appointed Acting Spokesperson to the President.
“These appointments take effect from Tuesday, January 7th, 2025,” the statement confirmed.
The announcement was signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Special Aide to the President-elect.
The appointments reflect a balance of expertise, with a focus on governance, economic acceleration, security, and legal affairs. The inclusion of both seasoned advisors and younger political figures signals Mr. Mahama’s intent to build a well-rounded and dynamic administration.
