Prez Mahama receives highest Ivorian award

Cote d’ivoire has honoured President John Dramani Mahama with its highest national award, the Dignity of Grand Cross of the National Order of Côte d’Ivoire.

At a dinner hosted by the Ivorian President, Alassane Ouattara, in Abidjan last Wednesday, the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, was also decorated with the Rank of Commander.

 

President Mahama was on a two-day official visit to Cote d’Ivoire.

Regional ties

President Ouattara stressed the importance of regional co-operation as a means of facilitating peace, development and security.

He commended President Mahama for the important role he continued to play in that regard.

 President Mahama exchanging greetings with some members of the  Ghanaian community after having been presented with the key and honorary citizenship of Abidjan by the Mayor of the city

He said President  Mahama had demonstrated  qualities of an effective regional leader, especially during his tenure as ECOWAS chairman.

Twins

Tracing the historical relations between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, President Mahama said they had lived like twins.

He expressed the hope that the relations would continue to grow in the years ahead.

President Mahama also received the key to Abidjan as an honorary citizen of Côte d’Ivoire.
