The University of Ghana management has initiated internal processes following the media altercation involving two senior members of the university, Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfe.
The university management in a statement released Friday morning [Nov 21, 2025] said it had invoked the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011) to review the conduct of both academics.
It said it had noted the widely circulated video which captured Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh, both Senior Members of the University, in a confrontation during a media engagement onΒ The Key Points, a current affairs programme on TV3, on Saturday, 15th November 2025. The video shows a panel discussion that degenerated into a personal and heated exchange between the two.
It said the university management has, in accordance with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), triggered internal processes to review the conduct of the two Senior Members and take necessary disciplinary actions.
"The University demands high standards of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff, and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements."
"Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and preserving public confidence in the institution," it added.

What happened?
It started with a disagreement when the two argued their points of view when they appeared on Accra-basedΒ TV3's talk programme The Key Points last Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Their disagreement degenerated into a near-physical attack behind the screens when the show went on a commercial break.
Someone recorded the off-screen exchange and shared it on social media.
The video on social media showed an aggressive George Domfeh being restrained from moving towards Ransford Gyampo amidst the exchange of words.
Prof Gyampo wrote on Facebook that evening:
"We know their plan to send little minds to come attack us during such important discussions on tv. But we have the resilience to deal with them. We wonβt allow those who destroyed the country to frustrate those resetting it, NEVER
Reacting to the video, George Domfeh wrote on Facebook the following day (Sunday, November 16, 2025),Β
"DEAR TV3
I got home extremely exhausted last night and went straight to bed. I just got up to work, only to realise that you have dropped the videos of my encounter with Gyampo. Interestingly, the part where Gyampo got up from his seat and attempted to throw a punch at me is conspicuously missing from the footage.
1. Was it a trap?
2. Did you sit with Gyampo to edit the video.
3. I don't mind YOU bringing it out but you should've been bold enough to show the entire video!
4. I am so disappointed in TV3.
5. This will NEVER STOP ME FROM SPEAKING MY MIND!!
In another post same day, Domfeh wrote:
"GYAMPO GOT UP FROM HIS SEAT AND ATTEMPTED TO HIT ME! TV3 SHOULD BE BOLD ENOUGH TO SHOW THAT PART! SHAME!!!"
The management of Media General, in a statement, explained that internal processes were underway to deal with the issue and described the said video as not officially being released by the management.
Following that, Prof Ransford Gyampo threatened to sue Dr George Domfeh for defamation following the words used in describing him during the exchange.
On Thursday [Nov 20, 2025], Dr George Domfeh announced on Facebook that the two of them have settled their disagreements, apologised to each other, and had smoked the peace pipe.
Domfe wrote:
"I have just concluded a long and cordial telephone conversation with my brother and colleague, Professor Ransford Gyampo.
Professor Gyampo acknowledged that he regrets his commentary against my person which was distasteful and defamatory especially considering our longstanding collegial relationship.I, in turn, admitted that I went so hard with my comments about his person in response to his position on my commentary, we have sincerely apologized to each other.
We have mutually agreed to put this episode behind us and to move forward with renewed respect for each other. As public intellectuals, we remain committed to engaging in serious national discourse without allowing disagreements to degenerate into personal animosity.
I therefore respectfully urge our families, friends, and supporters to respect this mutual understanding and to continue to support us in our professional contributions to national development.
Thank you."
But in a response, Prof Ransford Gyampo wrote on Facebook:Β
"Dear All,
You know I didnβt defame or attack anybody, but Dr Domfeh, apology accepted.
Please please, please, letβs let go. Heβs still my brother"
On Friday morning, Dr George Domfeh replied:
"Good morning to everyone. I have received countless number of messages from my loved ones expressing disappointment in me for agreeing to end my case with Gampo. I am sorry to all those who feel betrayed by my action.
- THE TOP MANAGEMENT OF TV3, INCLUDING MRS. BEATRICE AGYEMANG, THE GROUP CEO, MR. NUAMAH ESHUN, THE COO, MET MY LEGAL TEAM YESTERDAY AND WE AGREED FOR A NEGOTIATION AFTER A MARATHON OF DISCUSSIONS.
- They later met Gyampo's team and put the two of us on a conference call. I confirmed my earlier resolve for peace and we apologised to each other.
- I was supposed to write and make this public and he was also to do same. Unfortunately, after my statement, he now MISCHIEVOUSLY claims he never did anything wrong but has forgiven me.
- This is against the content of my statement, which was drafted by Mr. Nuamah, the COO of TV3. In the statement, it is categorically stated that Gyampo accepted his wrong doings and apologised to same.
- If Gyampo says he never apologised for what he did last Saturday (his attempt to physically assault me and the verbal attacks), I leave it to God.
- I have his earlier WhatsApp exchanges, where he apologised. I will share I challenge him to deny!
It was after Domfe's post that the University of Ghana statement was released.
