Savannah Region: Police, Military intensify security after communal clashes

The Ghana Police Service, working with the Ghana Armed Forces and other stakeholders, has stepped up security operations in Sawla, Gbiniyiri, Giniri, and nearby communities in the Savannah Region following recent communal clashes.

Reinforcement teams have been deployed to restore calm and maintain law and order in the affected areas.

Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno is leading a team from the National Police Headquarters to assess the situation on the ground and hold talks with chiefs, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 26, the police appealed for cooperation from residents.

“We urge all parties to remain calm and work with the security teams to ensure lasting peace in the area,” the statement said.
