Save Them Young Orphanage gets support

Parent’s Nest American School and Montessori, a school in Tema in the Greater Accra Region, has presented assorted items to Save Them Young Orphanage as part of activities commemorating the school’s fifth anniversary.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Charity Opare, presented the items and an undisclosed amount of money to the orphanage.

She said it was the belief of the school’s management to give back to society and, more especially, towards impacting the lives of underprivileged children positively.

She gave an assurance that the school would from time to time visit the orphanage to give it support and to ensure that the children at the home lived comfortably.

Gratitude

The Administrator of the orphanage, Mrs Linda Opoku Amoabeng, received the items and cash donations on behalf of the home and expressed her gratitude to the school for the gift which, she said, had come at an opportune time when the orphanage was in dire need.

“I am overwhelmed by the kindness you have shown. It is unexpected and will go a long way to enrich the lives of the children,” she said.

She said some of the children at the home had peculiar health problems that required that they underwent frequent medical checkups and the money donated had, especially, come in handy.

Grooming

Mrs Opoku said the facility had been in operation for 23 years and needed a facelift. She thus appealed to the public and benevolent organisations to come to its aid.

Mrs Opoku said some of the children at the orphanage with rich talents had put together a device similar to a torch from metal scraps.

“It will be such a joy for us to see such children groomed to solve societal problems and by extension have a tech-hub established in the school to give the children a facility to sustain their interests and talents,” she said.
