Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District completes street-naming exercise

The first phase of the street-naming project in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba (STK) District has been completed at Sawla in the Northern Region. Other towns involved in the project are Tuna, Kalba and Gindabour.

The streets in the towns were named after illustrious citizens from the area who had contributed in diverse ways towards the development of the district as well as important landmarks and notable towns. In all, 20 names came up for mention. Some of the citizens acknowledged included Jimah Sindaa, Vagli-Koru Teley, Banara, Mma Bugla and Sinkinaah and the notable towns include Damango, Wa and Bole.

Alhaji Mumuni Isaac Dramani, the STK, District Chief Executive, made this known during a durbar of chiefs and people to launch the Street-Naming and Property Numbering project at Sawla.

The DCE commended all stakeholders, especially the Sawla Wura, who contributed positively in diverse ways to make the project a success.

He asked the people to maintain cleanliness at all times and observe personal hygiene in order to prevent cholera. He urged the people to make themselves available for  the monthly clean-up exercise in the district which falls on the last Saturday of every month.
