SDA Church inaugurates Mid-Central Ghana Conference
The Mid-Central Ghana Conference (MCGC), a newly created conference within the precinct of the Seventh-Day Adventists Church has been inaugurated in Kumasi.
The MCGC and the Mountain View Ghana Conference (MVGC), which was inaugurated early on, were all created from the traditional Central Ghana Conference (CGC) of the SDA Church.
The MCGC will, among other conferences, be working under the Northern Ghana Union Mission (NGUM) which is the highest seat of the church in Ghana, catering for congregations in the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
The need for the creation of new conferences under the NGUM is to help make evangelistic activities more easy as the church grows in terms of numbers.
The President of the NGUM, Pastor Dr Kwanin Boakye, who inaugurated a 22-executive member committee of the MCGC, charged the members to work in harmony.
He further charged them to commit themselves to the NGUM’s policy and the “Three Angels’ Messages” to support evangelism of the church.
The President of the MCGC, Pastor Seth Kwasi Asiedu, said as the church was preparing for Christ’s Second Coming, it was pertinent for the various congregations to partake in His work.
He pointed out that the MCGC has 16 districts, 26 ministerial workers and 10 non-ministerial workers with a baptised membership of 18, 928 from 92 churches.
Lack of permanent working office for the MCGC and insufficient parsonages are major challenges facing the MCGC.
He however, called on the various congregations to help raise funds to build a permanent MCGC head office and urged them to intensify evangelistic campaigns towards the growth of the church.
