The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled an extensive network of planned maintenance exercises across two regions for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to dozens of communities in the Central and Accra East enclaves, even as restoration efforts continue in the Ashanti West Region following a feeder fault on Tuesday.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with most beginning at 9:00 am, though the duration of interruptions will differ depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Central Region, three separate planned maintenance operations have been scheduled for Wednesday. The first will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Saltpond Packaging, Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Abonko, New Nkusukum, Roman Hospital, Mankessim, Bafikrom, Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, Otsir Ekurabadze, Anomabo, and surrounding areas.

A second Central Region exercise during the same timeframe will affect Afrangua, Mpesedaudze, Obokor, Jedu, Abandze, Egyaa Nos. 1, 2, and 3, Briwa, Asafora, Barrier, parts of Anomabo, and surrounding areas.

A third, shorter operation in the Central Region is scheduled from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, a two-hour outage affecting Efutu, Jukwa Hemang, Abrafo, Briwa, Mankessim, Anomabo, part of Ajumako, Ekumfi, Yamoransa, Asebu, Edumfa, Abura Dunkwa, Fante-Nyankomasi, Katakyiase, Ayeldu, and surrounding areas.

In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Asiedu Nketia Junction, Gravel Pit, Blowchem Industry, parts of Nmai Dzorn, parts of School Junction, and surrounding areas. The eight-hour outage will impact industrial and residential zones across this corridor.

These scheduled interventions come as the ECG continues to address the aftermath of a fault on the Ntensere feeder in the Ashanti West Region, which disrupted power to Abuakwa Maakro, Asenemaso, Manhyia, Koforidua, parts of Akropong, and surrounding areas on Tuesday. According to a statement issued by the company, engineers have been working to rectify the fault and restore supply as swiftly as possible.

Additionally, restoration efforts continue from Sunday's heavy rainstorm, which affected 57 feeders in Accra and Tema, with the company having restored the majority while remaining feeders are being addressed.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the ongoing fault repairs. The company reassured the public that engineers are working diligently to resolve all network issues while emphasising that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network across the regions.
