The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced multiple power outages for Wednesday, June 3, 2026, affecting communities in the Accra East, Accra West, Ashanti and Tema Regions, with a combination of planned maintenance, emergency works, and a fault resulting from a burnt high-tension pole.

In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00am to 5:00pm, affecting Amrahia Goil Filling Station, Agbogba Junction, Wisconsin University, parts of North Legon, Top Herbal, Akatsi Abor, Agbogba Police Container and surrounding areas.

The Accra East Region is also dealing with a separate fault caused by a burnt high-tension pole at Abokobi Masalakyi, which has resulted in an outage affecting Abokobi Defizzy Mall and surrounding areas. ECG assured affected customers that engineers are working to rectify the fault and restore supply.

In the Accra West Region, planned maintenance will also run from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Wednesday, affecting SCC Junction, ECG Bortianor Office, Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo and surrounding areas.

The Ashanti Region faces two separate disruptions on Wednesday. A planned maintenance exercise from 9:00am to 5:00pm will affect Odumase, Akokoaso, Hemang, Krodua and surrounding areas. Additionally, emergency maintenance will take place from 9:00am to 3:00pm, affecting a wide swath of communities including Chicago, Nambro, Subiri, Anwiaso, Akyease, Kwamekrom, Bibiani, Mensin Gold Mining Company, Tanodumase, KD Sreso, Nyinahin, Kuffour Camp, Bayerebon, Nagole, Ntoboroso, Adobewura, Akoraboakrom, Agogoso, Anwiafutu, Kotokuom, Anyinamso 1 and 2, and surrounding areas. The emergency notice, originally issued on Tuesday, 2nd June, states that the exercise is necessary to improve service delivery.

In the Tema Region, planned maintenance will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm, affecting Level 400, Communities 19 and 20, Awudu Issaka, St Bakhita, Afariwaa Junction, Sanco 4, Yellow Signboard, Michell Camp Gate, Kakasunaka, Gbetsile, Soldier Line and surrounding areas.

ECG has expressed regret for the inconvenience that will arise from all these exercises. The company has advised affected customers to make alternative arrangements for power-dependent activities during the specified hours.


All notices were originally issued between Saturday, May 30 and Tuesday, June 2, 2026. ECG assured that power supply would be restored to all affected areas upon completion of the scheduled works or rectification of the burnt HT pole fault.
