Several major roads in Accra will be closed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, for the presidential inauguration the Ministry of Information has announced.

In a press statement dated January 6, 2025, the Ministry said 21 Heads of State from Africa and beyond, three Vice Presidents, four Ministers, and 24 envoys have confirmed their attendance.

The affected roads include the Osu T/L to Parliament House route, AU Roundabout, and all access roads to Parliament from EC to the Parliament House. The Security area at Parliament House and the road from Osu Cemetery to Parliament will also be closed.

At Independence Square, closures will affect the 28th February Road from CEPS Headquarters to Castle Road Junction, Osu Cemetery Traffic Light on Lokko Street, Castle Road from AU Circle to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, and Starlet 91 Road at the Ministries Traffic Light Intersection.

Traffic diversions will be implemented, with vehicles from the 28th February Road (La, Labone and Osu) being redirected to Salem Avenue via Castle Traffic Light and Oxford Street.

Motorists from John Evans Atta Mills High Street heading to Black Star Square will be diverted to Liberia Road at CEPS Headquarters.

The statement, signed by Lily-Fati Soale, AG. Chief Director for the Minister, advised motorists to use alternative routes and follow traffic directives from security personnel.
