Abiba pleaded not guilty to defrauding Charity Mensah and Gladys Osaa when she appeared before the court.

She was granted bail in the sum of GH¢5,000 with two sureties by the court, presided over by Mr James Kojo Bota.

The facts of the case as presented by  Inspector  Gregory Yeboah were that somewhere in  August 2015, Charity  informed  Abiba of her desire to purchase a piece of land.

Abiba then told Charity that she owned a plot of land for sale at GH¢5,000.

According to the prosecutor,   Charity said she could only afford half of the plot of land to which Abiba agreed and paid Abiba GH¢2,500 for it.

Abiba thereafter showed her sister’s piece of land to Charity as her own, promising to make documents of the land available to her in due course.

C/Inspector Yeboah said that in December 2015, Gladys, the second complainant, also bought a half plot of land from Abiba for GH¢2,500, after which Abiba promised to release documents of the land to Gladys later.

Prosecutor Yeboah said when Gladys and Charity were ready to develop their land, and went to see Abiba for the documents, it was there that they met Abiba’s sister who told them the land was her’s.

According to him, Gladys and Charity demanded the refund of their money from Abiba but she failed to do so.

They, therefore, lodged a complaint leading to her arrest.
