ADB Board holds maiden meeting as MD unveils strategic vision
The newly appointed Board of Directors of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC has held its inaugural meeting, marking the beginning of a renewed phase of transformation for the indigenous development-oriented bank.
The maiden board meeting was held on Wednesday, July 15, 2025, at the Bank’s head office in Accra and was chaired by Mr Kenneth Kwamina Thompson, a renowned financial and governance expert.
The high-level engagement provided a platform for the Board to familiarise itself with the Executive Management Committee members of the Bank, and for the Managing Director, Mr Edward Ato Sarpong, to present his strategic vision for ADB PLC—a vision anchored on driving innovation and repositioning ADB to become one of the top three banks in Ghana and globally admired for its people, processes, and performance.
As part of his presentation, the Managing Director also introduced the Bank’s revised corporate tagline, “Beyond Banking…”, noting that it is more than a slogan—it represents an unwavering commitment to redefining banking, empowering businesses, building futures, driving prosperity, and nurturing communities.
“Our strategic direction is anchored on relevance, resilience, and responsibility. ADB is more than a bank; we are an enabler of livelihoods, a supporter of Ghanaian enterprises, and a partner in progress,” Mr Sarpong stated.
The Board Chairman, Mr Thompson, commended the Managing Director for his clarity of purpose and pledged the Board’s full support in advancing the Bank’s agenda. “This is a new era. The Board is fully aligned with the strategic direction outlined by the Managing Director, and we are committed to providing the necessary guidance and governance to steer ADB to greater heights,” he remarked.
The Board further discussed initiatives focused on fulfilling ADB’s mandate and achieving its strategic objectives.
