Seven arrested over Ashaiman robbery; stolen phones and laptop retrieved

The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested seven individuals in connection with a robbery incident at Sakaska Park and Dagomba Junction in Ashaiman, within the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects, including two juveniles, were arrested through an intelligence-led operation after some victims reported being attacked by a group of young men wielding a weapon.

The attackers allegedly took away an iPhone 12 Pro Max, a Samsung A03 Core, a backpack containing a Dell laptop and charger, a power bank, an Infinix Hot 40i mobile phone, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two of the suspects, identified as Moses Kwame Helu and Jonathan Osabutey, were arrested at the scene with the help of some members of the public.

Police investigations later led to the arrest of Robert Amekudzi and a juvenile. The two were found with the stolen backpack and Dell laptop.

Subsequent operations also led to the arrest of Bernard Dzumador and another juvenile, who were found with the missing iPhone 12 Pro Max and Samsung A03 Core.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

According to the police, the suspects will be arraigned in due course.

The incident occurred earlier this week, and the operation forms part of efforts by the police to clamp down on criminal activity in the area.
