He observed that the church was not doing enough in the effective utilisation of its human resource and investment potential to meet its socio-economic development goals.

“The church needs a strong capital base to revamp its investment potential such as the Kekeli Hotel into a viable hospitality facility, the E.P University, health facilities, agri-businesses and arable lands into productive ventures,”the moderator indicated.

Conference

He was addressing the Presbyters Union of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, at its 22nd annual national delegates conference in Accra on the theme, “Go, make disciples, Go deeper.”

The four-day conference brought together more than 200 participants including delegates from the 15 presbyteries of the church in the country.

Commendation

The Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia, commended religious organisations in the country for their collaborative support in the provision of health delivery services, particularly in the construction of mission hospitals which he observed were playing significant roles in the health sector.

He explained that the major challenges confronting the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) could be attributed to its high demand following the increase in population, high cost of treatment of ailments and delays by health institutions in submitting their claims for processing and onward payments.

Mr Segbefia disclosed that a committee that was instituted to review operations of the scheme had completed its work pending submission of the report to the Cabinet.
