Smart driver averts ill-fate as 'brakeless truck' runs into four shops
A smart ploy by a driver to continually toot the horn of his out of control Kia truck to warn off other drivers and shop owners at Agona Swedru in the Central Region, averted what could have been an ill-fated Wednesday.
The truck, GG 4805-15, loaded with logs and carrying two other passengers, had apparently lost its brakes while descending a sharp hill at an area popularly called ‘Oda Kwanano’ and was heading dangerously for a number of shops when the driver deftly pulled the warning wand, helping to save lives consequently.

The truck overrun four shops whose occupants hand just escaped to safety following the tooting warning before landing on its side, however it was not before it destroyed containers of paint wares on display for sale by a drain.
Eyewitnesses told Graphic Online’s Gilbert Agbey that the driver and his companions who were trapped in the truck momentarily, were rescued by people around and appeared unhurt. They were however sent to the hospital for professional examination.
At about 3pm when Graphic Online arrived at the scene, scores of people had gathered to catch a glimpse of the accident while some used their phones to photograph the scene.
Some of the people watched in awe as they contemplated what could have been had there been a gridlock in the area at the time of the accident.
