Teachers credit union supports mother of quadruplets

The Swedru Teachers Co-operative Credit Union (STCCU) has made a cash donation of GHC500 to a 20-year-old mother of quadruplets who was delivered of the babies at the Swedru Government Hospital recently.

The nursing mother, Miss Diana Mirinda, an apprentice seamstress, who was delivered of the quadruplets through a caesarean operation, had made an appeal to public-spirited individuals and institutions to come to her aid to take care of her children.

The babies, three males and a female, the first babies of Ms Mirinda and her husband, who is an apprentice welder, are still on admission at the hospital.

Other philanthropists have also made donations to the woman, with one of them offering to house her and the children and take care of them for three months when they are discharged from the hospital.

Presentation
Making the presentation, the Board Chairman of STCCU, Mr Benjamin Ansong Somuah, said the organisation was touched by the plight of the woman and therefore decided to come to her aid.

He noted that his outfit, as part of its corporate social responsibility, decided to provide their widow’s mite to the woman to enable her to take good care of the children.

He added that the slogan of the STCCU was ‘happy family’ and that gesture was to put a smile on the face of the woman so that she would be in the right frame of mind in the upbringing of the children.

He urged other corporate bodies and individuals to emulate its  example and come to the aid of the woman.

Appreciation
Mrs Janet Opoku, the nursing officer-in-charge of the maternity ward, thanked the union for the donation, saying it would help address some of the basic needs of the woman.
