Three suspects have been remanded into police custody by the Asokore Mampong District Court over the alleged lynching of a man, Yusuf Zakari, at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, Moses Adoko, 37, a plumber, Abubakari Adams, 25, a herdsman, and Nurudeen Suleman, 35, a motor mechanic, are standing trial in connection with the incident.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command said investigations were continuing to identify and arrest other persons believed to have taken part in the alleged attack.
According to a police statement, preliminary investigations indicate that in the early hours of July, 19, 2026, the victim was allegedly attacked by a group of people at a cattle kraal in Sabon Zongo.
The police said Mr Zakari sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital before being referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The three suspects were later arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Mrs Hilder Esther Wryter.
The court remanded the suspects into police custody and adjourned the case to August, 7, 2026.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Ashanti Regional Police Command said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident were still ongoing, while efforts were being made to identify and arrest other persons connected with the case.
The command appealed to members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report suspected criminal activities to the police for lawful action.
It also appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station or call the police emergency numbers 191, 112, or the MTN toll-free line 18555.
The command said all persons found to have played a role in the incident would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
