Tsenku Hiking Club hands over renovated ICT Lab to Obosomase Presby Basic School
The Tsenku Hiking Club in Obosomase, located in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region, has officially handed over a renovated Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Laboratory to the Obosomase Presbyterian Basic School.
The laboratory, which is equipped with 21 desktop computers and 40 desks, was funded through proceeds from the club’s annual hiking event, the 'Madness Walk.' This 52-kilometer trek, held in August 2024, spanned from Dansoman Last Stop in Accra to Obosomase.

The club raised a total of GH₵140,000.00 for the project, with donations from participating members, supporters, and two corporate sponsors — StarOil Company Limited and Peduase Valley Resort.
Handing-over ceremony
The official handing-over ceremony took place at the premises of the Obosomase Presbyterian Basic School on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The event was attended by the Chief of the area, Obosomasehene Okofo Ayeh Bekoe, Mankrado, Nana Donkor Manianor, Tsenku Sofo, Nana Sofu Opare II and Omankyeame, Nana Addo Obiri.
Also in attendance were Resident Presbyterian Minister, Rev. Takyi-Mills, dignitaries from the Ministry of Education, parents, teachers and students as well as members the hiking club.

Anita Budu, speaking on behalf of the club, encouraged the students to value their education and take proper care of the donated items to fully benefit from them.
"The club is optimistic that the students will make the most of this generous gift as they prepare to face the ICT challenges of the 21st century. The Tsenku Hiking Club is committed to supporting education and driving community development through its initiatives," she said.

Appreciation
The Headmaster of the school, George O Bampoe expressed gratitude to the members of the club for their kind gesture.
"We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your generous donation of 21 desktop computers to our school. Your kindness and commitment to education will have a lasting impact on our students and community," he said.
"Your contribution is a testament of the power of community support partnership in education. Thank you again for your generousity and investment in our students' future. We are truly appreciative of your support," Mr Bampoe added.
Essay competition
As part of the event, the students took part in an essay-writing competition themed, "Why My School Deserves a Computer Lab."

At the conclusion of the competition, Joseph Abore, a JHS 3 student, claimed first place, while Ruth Kai Adjetey and Beatrice Amaadi Addo, also in JHS 3, secured second and third places, respectively.
In recognition of their efforts and enthusiasm in the competition, each of the winners received undisclosed cash prizes as rewards.
