Two Kotoka International Airport employees in court over alleged theft of 160 litres of diesel
The Kotobabi District Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with two sureties each to two workers of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) over the alleged theft of 160 litres of diesel.
The accused persons, Daniel Ansah, 46, and Sampson Gyamfi, 33, both electrical technicians at KIA, were ordered by the court to report to the police three times a week.
They have denied conspiring to steal the diesel, valued at GH¢1,793.60, which belongs to the Ghana Airports Company Limited.
The two are expected to reappear before the court, presided over by Maame Yaa Kusi-Mensah, on February 18, 2026.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Christine Bansah said the complainant, Foster Afloh, is an officer of the National Investigation Bureau stationed at the Kotoka International Airport.
She told the court that the accused persons are both electrical technicians with the Ghana Airports Company Limited.
According to the prosecution, on January 18, 2026, at about 3:28 a.m., the complainant was conducting routine checks at the Ghana Airports Company Limited premises when he intercepted the accused persons conveying eight yellow gallons containing diesel in a Nissan pickup vehicle with registration number GV 531-14.
Chief Inspector Bansah said the accused persons were questioned but failed to offer a reasonable explanation for possessing the diesel. They were subsequently arrested together with the exhibits and escorted to the Airport Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged.
She added that during investigations, the accused persons admitted the offences in their cautioned statements and led the police to the emergency power plant section at KIA, where the diesel was allegedly siphoned.
The accused persons were arraigned before the court after investigations were completed.
