Speaking at the award ceremony in Accra yesterday, the Director of Human Resource of Vodafone Ghana, Mrs Stella Agyenim-Boateng, said as part of the package, the tuition fee of the students would be paid, they would also be given technological gadgets and airtime to facilitate their research work and money to buy books.

She said the students would also be given the opportunity to do both their internship and national service with the company.

Additionally, Mrs Agyenim-Boateng said depending on their performance at the company, the scholarship awardees would have an opportunity to be enrolled in the company’s young graduate programme dubbed, “Discover”, where they would have a further opportunity to serve with the various departments of the company for 12 to 18 months and, “eventually become full-time employees of Vodafone”.

Mrs Agyenim-Boateng said since it was launched in 2011, 31 students had benefited from the programme, adding that it was fulfilling for the company to support needy students.

She expressed satisfaction with the performance of the previous beneficiaries of the award and urged the current awardees to continue to excel in every endeavour they found themselves in.

Laudable initiative

An excited parent, Mr Isaac Afoakwah, in a chat with the Daily Graphic, lauded Vodafone for recognising the need to support students, especially females, to achieve their aspirations.

He advised the beneficiaries to make the best of the opportunity offered them and excel in their careers.
