The fair, which is under auspices of Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) and the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has been slated for September 11, which will see the convergence of Ghanaian manufacturers across the country on a single platform to promote commerce and industry.

Participants of the fair would have the opportunity to network with potential business partners, showcase, promote and market new and innovative products and technologies in the country.

MOTI

According to the acting Regional Officer of the MOTI, Ms Harriet Karikari Berko, the fair, which would span over three days, targets agro processing companies, textile companies and technologically oriented educational institutions.

She said unequal attention had been given to companies in the oil and gas industry and that the current fair would provide attention to other small and medium scale enterprises (SME’s) that were outside other sector.

This, she said, would help the management of the non-oil and gas SMEs to establish business connections that would result in the growth of their companies.

Ms Karikari said INDUTECH was the leading industry and technology fair in the country and that it was the premium platform that would bring together industry and academia to showcase advancements in technology and products.

“We are on the field as well as encouraging SME’s to take advantage of the unique opportunity the fair will offer to improve upon their customers and clients database as well as establish strong relationships with prospective suppliers,” she said.

Marketing, she said, was essential to making goods known to customers and gain feedback that would help in product upgrades and improvement.

“It is envisaged that there will be a wide variety of products and services on exhibits ranging from foods and beverages processing, textiles and garments, processing machinery and equipment, pest and weed control chemicals and financial services,” she said.

Specific Objectives

The acting officer said the specific objectives were to open the Western and Central regions to more business opportunities to create the environment for linkages between manufacturers and investors.

The other focus she said, would also be the business discussions between manufacturers, potential manufactures, agents and business partners to demonstrate their unique product features.

The Western and Central regions were major sources of raw material for the country’s industrial sector which include cocoa, rubber, coconut, palm oil, wood products, timber (raw, sawn and processed), gold, bauxite, iron, diamond and manganese, citrus and pineapple, therefore, choosing the region was very unique and strategic.

Takoradi, she said, was one of the most industrialised cities in the country aside Accra, Tema and Kumasi and that the recent discovery of oil and gas in commercial quantifies made the city livelier, positioning it as one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

Takoradi as a Hub

The city of Takoradi, she said, connects to Cote d’Ivoire and has the potential to become a hub for the two countries and beyond.

She expressed the hope that at the end of the three-day fair business in the regions and country in general would record a lot of synergies and a boom in their operations.
