The project aims at addressing maternal mortality among women and pregnant teenagers and it is being implemented in 20 rural communities in the two target districts.

As part of the project activities and WiLDAF Ghana’s attempt at fulfilling article 12 and 15 of the Convention on Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and to mark the breast cancer awareness month, WiLDAF-Ghana took health service to the doorstep of the rural communities by organising a mobile health clinic at Oduman and Kwashikuma in the target districts.

Mobile health clinics

According to a statement issued by WiLDAF, the first mobile health clinics, held in two communities in both Akuepem North and Ga West districts in September, were successful.

It said the second mobile health clinic, organised in October at Oduman and Kwashikuma in the Ga West District, benefited over 680 residents. The focus was on antenatal and post natal services for pregnant and lactating mothers, breast cancer education and screening and cooking competition among the female community members, who were presented with awards.
