Woman killed by unknown assailants
The body of a woman believed to have been attacked and strangled by some unknown assailants while she was sleeping, has been found at Klagon, near Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.
The woman, identified by the police as Ama Kyerewa and believed to be in her early 40s, was said to be sleeping with her two daughters when the incident occurred.
Her traumatised children, aged six and 13, were found by some neighbours who saw the woman dead yesterday morning in her room and informed the police.
The body was found with a cut around the neck, and it is believed that she was strangled with a rope.
The eldest daughter was also found with a cut around her neck and it is believed that the assailants had attempted to strangulate her while she was sleeping.
Police Confirmation
The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Afia Tenge, who confirmed the incident, said the police received information from some neighbours of the deceased at Klagon.
The neighbours are said to have told the police that some people had attacked the woman in the night and killed her.
The police, she said, went to the scene and found the body of the woman in her room.
The body has since been retrieved by the crime scene experts and deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy.
