Women groups encouraged to take up leadership positions

A lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Dr Isaac Owusu-Mensah, has challenged women groups to encourage their members to take up leadership positions, especially in national politics.
That, he said, could be the surest way to increase women representation in Parliament and in other decision making bodies.

Dr Owusu-Mensah was speaking on behalf of the Country Representative of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Dr Gregor Ryssel, at the 9th triennial delegates conference of the Christian Mothers Association of Ghana in Kumasi.
He said in a country where women were more than men, there was the need for the women to be at the forefront of the nation’s leadership and politics since their involvement in national politics was very crucial for the nation’s development.
