World Tourism Organisation Regional Confab opens in Accra

Ghana will, from today, host the prestigious United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Regional Conference in Accra.

The two-day event at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel is on the theme: “Enhancing Brand Africa-Fostering Tourism Development”.

The conference opens at 8 a.m. and will cover a wide range of issues, including the role of new and traditional media in building Africa’s image, how to leverage the benefits of regional cooperation and crisis communication, dos and don’ts.

The event brings together a rich array of experienced policy makers, media managers, academia and people leaders from the tourism business community.

Discussants at the event include Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare; the Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Ransford Tetteh; the Minister of Tourism and Culture of Seychelles, Mr Allain Saint-Ange; the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality of Zimbabwe, Mr Walter Mzembi; Mr Chris Diaz, Marketing Director of Kenyan Airways and Director of the African Marketing Confederation.

Others are Mr Pohamba Shifeta, the Minister of Environment and Tourism of Namibia; Mr Bello Bouba Maigari, Cameroon’s Minister of Tourism; Ms Miriam Chiazor, the Content Editor, Afro Tourism; Mr Antonio Canto, Vice-President, Advertising Sales, CNN International, and Ms Velma Corcovan, Marketing Executive, Cape Town Tourism.
