Kumasi Rotary provides borehole at Merewadwa Takyiman
The Rotary Club of Kumasi East District 9102 has provided a mechanised borehole at a cost of US$5,000 for the people of Merewadwa Takyiman in the Atwima Kwawuma District of the Ashanti Region.

The project was funded by the club through contributions, with support from their international counterpart, the Rotary Club of Copenhagen, Denmark.
The provision of the system is expected to ease the difficulties the people encounter in accessing potable water in the area.
Borehole
The President of the club, Richard D. Antwi, said the objective of his outfit was to support the efforts by the government to provide basic needs of the people.
According to him, potable drinking water, quality healthcare service and educational materials were essential to development particularly at rural communities.
He said the inauguration formed part of borehole water projects earmarked for three communities in the Ashanti Region by the club to improve on the living conditions of the people.
Mr Antwi said water was important, hence the need to ensure that every community enjoyed quality drinking water to eradicate waterborne diseases in rural areas.
He called on the beneficiaries to ensure proper maintenance of the facility.
Commendation
Nana Owusu Banahene II, Chief of Merewadwa Takyiman, expressed appreciation to their benefactor and assured the club of proper maintenance of the facility for the benefit of the people.
He appealed to other individuals and corporate bodies to also support the community basic school with computers to support the pupils in the teaching and learning of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
