The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance exercises scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, which will result in temporary power outages in several communities across the Accra East, Ashanti, Volta, and Western Regions.

In an official advisory to the public, the state-owned power distributor stated that the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and enhance the stability of the national grid.

The maintenance works are scheduled to commence at 9:00 am on Wednesday, with the duration of the outages varying across the affected regions. The Accra East Region will see the longest interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting communities including the Tseaddo Goil Filling Station, Tseaddo Royal Mart, West Trassaco, Trassaco Phase 2, Salem Estates, and parts of School Junction and surrounding areas.

The Ashanti Region is set to experience a series of interruptions, with a significant outage affecting areas including Kwadaso Nsoum, Prempeh College, the Brigade (Complex), Adoato Adomanu, Akropong, Nyankyerenease, and Bokankye, among others. These areas, including Kokosu, Kegasi Estate, Esaase, Daba, Owabi Gh. Water, Tabre, Akwabuak, Ntensere, Mfensi, Asakraka, Koforidua, Kontomire, Dwenenh, and Asempanaye, will be without power from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Additional planned maintenance in the Ashanti Region will affect Kumawu, Oyoko, Banko, Akrofonso, Asamang, Atwea, Bonwire, Amanpe, Adanwomase, Baman and surrounding areas on the same day.

In the Volta Region, the planned outage will last for six hours, beginning at 9:00 am and ending at 3:00 pm. The affected communities include Agbakope, Agbagorme, Tordzinu, and Akatsi and the surrounding areas.

The Western Region will also experience an outage on Wednesday, with interruptions scheduled from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This will affect areas including New Amanful, Funko, Beach Road, Apowa, Kejebir, Norpalm, Mphor, Ayiem, Dominase, Adum Banso, Benso, Adjoa, Dupaul, Apremdo, Whindo, Kweximintsim, Assakae, Mpatado, Adientem, as well as Accra town, Odumase, Mile 10, Nsadweso, Asuminam, Old Subre, New Subre, Akosombo, Akyempim, Appiahsuman, and Koduakum.

ECG has apologised to its customers for the inconvenience that will arise from this essential exercise and has assured the public that power will be restored upon completion of the scheduled works.

Furthermore, the company is currently working to resolve unplanned power outages in other parts of the country. Residents in the Accra West Region are experiencing outages due to a punctured cable at Weija, affecting areas including New Bortianor, Redtop, Ajasco, Finney Hospital, Sunday Down, and Container. Similarly, in the Western Region, a broken high-tension (HT) pole at Odifour has disrupted power to communities including Asemkrom, Jema, Boinso, Omanpe, Kwahu, Atokosue, Nkwanta, Enchi Township, Aleobo, Nyankamam, Akontonbra, New & Old Yakasi, Adjakaa, Achimfo, and Abokyia. A separate cable fault in the Volta Region has also cut power to Abeliakope, from the ECOBANK area to the Border.

ECG engineers have been deployed to the various sites to rectify the faults and restore supply to the affected customers as soon as possible.
