Ablekuma North collation suspended again with 7 outstanding polling stations

The collation of the parliamentary election results for the Ablekuma North Constituency has been suspended again, but this time with seven outstanding polling stations.

The Returning Officer has therefore referred the matter to the Electoral Commission (EC) for a decision.

This follows the inability to authenticate seven out of the 20 remaining polling stations (pink sheets) during the collation process at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the EC on Monday (Jan 6).

The Returning Officer for the Ablekuma North constituency, Vincent Obeng who announced this said 13 out of 20 disputed polling stations have been authenticated.

He said the presiding officers who were invited for the collation process  verify the results and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also tended in three of the pink sheets, two of which were authenticated.

He however said seven polling stations remain unauthenticated due to the absence of presiding officers. Mr Obeng said he  has referred the matter to the EC for a decision.

In response to claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that some presiding officers disagreed with the numbers, Mr Obeng stated emphatically that that was not true. "Everybody who came here signed," he said, adding that the media was present and witnessed the authentication process.
