Abuakwa North MP donates to BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, Ms Gifty Twum Ampofo, has presented 2,000 pieces of mathematical sets to candidates of the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in her constituency.

Last Friday’s presentation also covered some candidates in the adjoining Abuakwa South Constituency.

Beneficiary candidates were from schools at Ettukrom, Osiem, Old Tafo, New Tafo, Bunso, Anyinasin, Kukurantumi, Nobi, Ahweaben, Sokode Juaso, among others.

Ms Twum Ampofo presented the maths sets to the heads of the various schools, but where the number of candidates was small, she gave the items out to the candidates themselves.

Boy-girl relationships

She encouraged the candidates to focus on the examination and not get distracted by issues such as boy-girl relationships, social media and happenings in their communities.

The MP asked the candidates to eschew arrogance, disobedience and laziness as they prepared towards the very first external examination in their academic lives and rather study seriously, bearing in mind that their future development as individuals hinged on their performance in the examination.

“As you gear yourselves up for the BECE, avoid examination malpractice in any form. It will never help you. Yours is to produce what your teachers have taught you and I know you will come out successfully,” Ms Twum Ampofo told the candidates.

Don’t panic

She prayed with the candidates and advised them not to panic but rather relax and give their best.

In every school where she did the presentation, the MP interacted with the heads and the teachers and thanked them for the diligence and patience with which they had prepared the future leaders for the examination.

She was accompanied on her rounds by the Constituency Chairman, Mr Douglas Asare; the Women’s Organiser, Mary Aduako; the Assistant Secretary, Otuo Siriboe, and the Communications Director, Stephen Agyeman Dua.
