Policy for modern era
According to a statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, the updated policy has been carefully reviewed to reflect contemporary national and global realities. These include the rapid expansion of the creative economy, technological advancements, the rise of cultural tourism, youth empowerment, cultural education, and the urgent need to safeguard both tangible and intangible cultural assets.
The new framework seeks to firmly position culture as a central pillar of sustainable development and nation-building.
“The Revised Ghana National Cultural Policy represents a significant milestone in Ghana’s cultural development agenda,” the Ministry stated. “It seeks to position culture as a catalyst for national development, social cohesion, economic growth, and creative innovation.”
The launch is expected to draw a wide cross-section of stakeholders, including government officials, traditional authorities, development partners, representatives from the creative and cultural industries, academia, civil society organisations, cultural practitioners, and members of the diplomatic corps.
The Ministry expressed confidence that the successful implementation of the revised policy will strengthen Ghana’s cultural institutions, open new opportunities for creative entrepreneurs, promote cultural diversity, enhance national identity, and contribute meaningfully to the government’s broader development agenda.
