Bawumia is the best candidate for Election 2024 - Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the best candidate in the 2024 Presidential election race.

He has, therefore, cautioned Ghanaians against voting for any other candidate apart from the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flag bearer on Saturday, December 7, 2024 or the massive works that had been done by the government in the last eight yeas would be at risk.

President Akufo-Addo who was addressing supporters of NPP at the precinct of the University of Ghana stadium at Legon in Accra Thursday evening said a vote for Bawumia meant he would be in the position to continue to add up to the massive projects and works his government had done in the last eight years.

He said he was the most outstanding Vice-President in the history of the country, a honest man and also one with unimpeachable integrity adding that after working with him for sixteen years which included eight years in opposition and eight years in government, he was the right person to testify about the NPP flag bearer.

President Akufo-Addo said having worked with him in opposition and in power for eight years, Dr Bawumia was more than qualified to be the President of the country.

He, therefore, appealed to the supporters of the party and the electorate to look out for the number one position on the ballot and vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumbia and the NPP parliamentary candidates come Saturday.

He said the country in this period needed someone who understands the geo-politics of the 21st century and to master the fourth industrial revolution.

He said Africa missed out on the first, second and the third industrial revolutions but Dr Bawumia is one with a clear idea on digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help leap the development of the country forward.

In that regard, he charged every Ghanaian particularly young people to support Dr Bawumia, stressing that “We should not miss this opportunity.”

“We are looking for somebody who has a clear plan for our country and not one who does not even understand his own 24 hour economy,” he stated and asked how the former President [John Mahama] would keep the light on for 24 hours when he could not do that even within 12 hours.

He said it was the development of the country that was at stake because the country had within the last eight years witnessed some unprecedented development in all sectors.

All these, developments, he explained were made possible with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia beside him.

He said if Ghanaians made the mistake to give power to former President Mahama, he would cancel the free SHS and asked if Ghanaians were prepared to do that.

He also accused the former President of running down the Agenda 111 when it was proposed and said Ghana could not afford to ignore the threat posed by the former President to the forward match of the country.

President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance that Dr Bawumia would come to continue from where he left off and also add on with his own initiatives.

He chastised pastors who were trying to sow seeds of discord by fanning religious divisions in the country with their comments and advised them to desist from making such desperate statements which he said could disturb the peace of the country.
