Cease fire, stop the insults, name calling - Akuffo Addo

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has called for a cease fire of “loud noises” within the party.

According to him, although “the outbreak of cacophony” was expected following the death of the Party’s Upper East Regional Chairman, Alhaji Adams Mahama, “it is unseemly and disrespectful towards the memory of Chairman Adams that such loud noises should continue within the party.”

Addressing a press conference in Accra Friday morning, Nana Addo noted that it is his responsibility to seek what to do in the interest of the party.

He therefore called on all party members and supporters to cease fire, adding that, “the finger pointing, the name calling, the insults, the lies, the denigrating of past and current leaders must stop. They are to be roundly condemned…The recriminations against ourselves in this period of healing, I repeat, must stop.”

Nana Addo noted that such retorts only provide fertile soil for their opponents as the country draws closer to the 2016 National Elections.

He further directed party members to take part in the week of fasting and prayers being organised by the National Women’s Organiser, Otiko Djaba.

“I have no doubt that, with the help of Almighty God and by our collective determination, the storms that are currently buffeting the great, historic movement that the NPP represents will soon subside so that it can fulfil its mission of developing our nation in freedom” he said.
