Akyem Oda machete street fight: Finger chopped off, suspect arrested - manhunt underway for others

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has restored calm to Akyem Oda's New Station Area following a violent clash in which a group of young men engaged in an open fight with cutlasses.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, police responded to a viral video showing the young men wielding cutlasses and attacking each other. Upon receipt of the information, officers proceeded to the scene to restore calm.

Two suspects were subsequently located receiving treatment at separate hospitals. Suspect George Okyere, aged 30, was found at the emergency ward of the Oda Jubilee Hospital with a deep cut on his forehead and his right finger chopped off. Suspect Paul Pascalele was located at the Akyem Oda Government Hospital emergency ward with a deep cut on his right hand.

Meanwhile, a third suspect, Evans Adayele, was arrested in his hideout and is assisting with investigations. 

Police have indicated that efforts are underway to arrest other suspects for further investigations and prosecution.
