Kpandai DCE supplies free lunch to BECE candidates
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kpandai, Haruna Abdul-Karim has decided to offer free lunch for this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the district.
The initiative, which covers about 2,489 candidates across nine centres, is being implemented throughout the five-day examination period , which according to the DCE was to ensure that no student writes on an empty stomach.

Speaking during a visit to some of the centres, on Monday, Abdul-Karim emphasised the importance of proper feeding in enhancing academic performance.
According to the DCE, the intervention is intended to ease the burden on candidates, many of whom have travelled long distances to write the examination, while also ensuring they remain healthy and focused.
“You cannot work on an empty stomach. As students, they need to be well-fed to maintain a stable mind, remain focused, and sustain their strength,” he said.
He explained that the programme is being funded from his personal resources to make candidates more comfortable and motivated during the examination period.
