ECG announces emergency maintenance in Ashanti and Western Regions for Tuesday, May 5

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled emergency maintenance exercises across the Ashanti and Western Regions for Tuesday, May 5, 2026, with engineers set to undertake urgent infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to several communities.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor on Monday, the coordinated works are aimed at addressing urgent network issues to prevent further deterioration of service quality. The outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with durations depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Ashanti Region, two separate emergency maintenance operations have been scheduled. The first will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Behenase, Kokobriko, Mensase, Abuoso, and the surrounding areas. A second exercise will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Ayeduase, Deduako, parts of Kotei, Atonsu, Ahinsan Estate, Gyinyase, Chirapatre, and surrounding areas.

In the Western Region, an emergency maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Apowa township and surrounding areas.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.

The company reassured the public that the emergency exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
