Clergy praise Bawumia for political maturity and peaceful conduct

Members of the Christian clergy from various denominations have commended Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his peaceful and mature conduct during the recently concluded Presidential election.

Dr. Bawumia garnered widespread admiration when he conceded defeat early, even before the Electoral Commission began collating official results. During an early morning press briefing, he cited data from his team’s internal collation and congratulated the winning candidate, a move many described as exemplary.

Visit to commiserate

On Wednesday, a delegation of pastors visited Dr. Bawumia’s residence to express their support and gratitude for his statesmanship.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Apostle George Apasera acknowledged the Vice President’s early concession as a critical factor in maintaining national peace.

"We are also very grateful for the way you came out to concede defeat very early. It calmed a lot of tension. Thank you," Apostle Apasera said.

Praise for maturity and resilience

The pastors lauded Dr. Bawumia for his political maturity and resilience in the aftermath of the election.

"You really exhibited maturity, which all of us do admire," Apostle Apasera noted.

He continued: "In fact, all of us, at our various places, were wondering how you would feel. We were all concerned, but we were praying that the Lord would strengthen you. After that, we have seen you okay on a number of occasions, and you are still beaming with your usual smile. You are still looking energetic and strong. We are sure that you have really exhibited a lot of maturity politically. May God bless you and your family."

Encouragement for the future

The clergy encouraged Dr. Bawumia not to be discouraged, reassuring him that his political journey is far from over.

"It is unfortunate that the ultimate did not fall on your side, but you have really done your best, and we come to congratulate you for that," they said.

"We say God bless you, and God will watch over your life and guide you with His eye. This is not the end of the road. You are still a young man, and there is still a lot ahead of you."
